Happy Kids with Books

READING LISTS

Each year our primary teachers and the secondary Language & Literature teachers create 'Reading Lists' for students, which we make available to all families before the start of the summer holidays. We share these reading lists throughout the year in the spirit of encouraging a love of reading in young people and to help parents who are looking for age-appropriate books for their children.

Summer 2022 Reading Lists for Primary

For younger age groups, the aim is simply to encourage children to read a few age-appropriate English-language books during the holidays to maintain and reinforce the literacy skills that they are learning in school - and to have some fun! The books suggested are a mixture of well-loved classics, contemporary favourites and feature both fiction and non-fiction. None of the titles listed are compulsory for this age group: we encourage children to read widely and in different forms, from comics to audio books. Happy summer reading!

Summer 2022 Reading Lists for Collège and Lycée

6ème, 5ème, 4ème and 3ème students

Collège students are strongly encouraged to read at least 2-3 books over the summer holidays. The reading lists vary from well-known classics, to popular contemporary fiction. Non-fiction titles too are recommended.

2nde students

For the 2nde classe d’accueil there are two compulsory texts (for the IGCSE English Literature exam), a reading task to prepare for la rentrée and a list of suggested reading.

For the 2nde classes already in the Section, there is a list of recommended summer reading with a huge range of suggestions.

1ère students: US and UK Options of the BFI

Students entering 1ère this year will be following the apprentissage cultural et linguistique (ACL) of the BFI (baccalauréat français internationale) and will follow this through into their terminale year. Compulsory texts are listed below along with recommended holiday reading.

Terminale students: US and UK Options of the OIB

Students entering terminale this year will continue working towards the OIB. As always, compulsory study texts plus further reading recommendations are provided.

Students: you should choose the reading list for the year group that you will enter in September 2022
