HOW TO APPLY

APPLYING TO THE CSI LYON & THE ANGLOPHONE SECTION 2024-2025

All applicants need to be aware of the criteria for admissions that are applied at the CSI Lyon and the Anglophone Section. These are clearly set out in our Before You Apply page and in the Admissions & Testing: Information for Applicants guide. To make an informed decision about whether to apply to the Anglophone Section, all families need to read these carefully before starting the application process.

Administrative Fees 2024-2025

An administrative fee will be charged for each application to the Anglophone Section. The fee is non-refundable and applicable to all applicants, including those who have applied to the Section previously.

Applications to primary: €200
Applications to secondary (collège & lycée): €250

Important: for all applications to the Anglophone Section, the administrative fee(s) should be paid directly to the Anglophone Section at the same time as the completed application dossier is submitted to the CSI Lyon administration. Application dossier(s) will not be processed until the administrative fee has been received in full.

Full instructions regarding payment of the administrative fees will be sent to all parents along with the application form.

Admissions & Testing Process: 2024-2025

Please note:

Applications to primary (école primaire) and to secondary (collège & lycée) are dealt with separately, and the procedures involved are quite different. Please ensure that you follow the correct procedure as shown on the tabs Applying to Primary and Applying to Collège & Lycée.
You will need to make a separate application for each child that you are applying for.
Please don't duplicate or copy the application forms or any other documents provided by the school. All applications must be pre-registered by requesting an application form from the CSI Lyon.

All applicants to the Anglophone Section will be tested to assess their level of English.

French and / or Maths tests may be required: individual testing requirements will be confirmed by the CSI administration.

Key Dates & Deadlines

January 2024: parents will be able to directly request application forms from the primary school via the school website. Please see the full instructions here.
From 1st February 2024: application forms will be distributed (by email) by the CSI administration to those families who have requested them.
Friday 29 March 2024: Deadline for application dossiers to be returned to the CSI Lyon.
- The completed application dossiers must be sent electronically (please don't send paper copies).
- It is very important that applicants follow the instructions to fully complete the application dossier to ensure that it can be processed correctly: incomplete dossiers will not be accepted. It is the responsibility of the parents to send a complete application dossier: the school will not pursue missing documents.
- Administrative fees must be paid in full at the same time as you submit your application dossier.

End of May 2024
- All applicants who will be accepted for testing will receive a convocation which will confirm the time and dates of the tests.
- All applicants who have not been accepted for testing will receive confirmation of this from the CSI administration. Reasons for this might include: incomplete dossiers, missed deadline, level of English does not meet the required standard.

Testing Dates

Individual testing arrangements will be confirmed by the CSI Lyon: the following dates are provided for guidance only.

Wednesday 19 June, Wednesday 26 June through to 2nd July.
All tests will be held at the CSI Lyon.

Results

Friday 5 July 2024 from 18h00.
Lists of successful candidates will be posted outside the primary school at CSI Lyon and on the websites of the school and the Anglophone Section.

Please note that due to the high number of applicants, individual feedback from the tests is not available.

Testing process for applications to collège & lycée

The Anglophone Section organises a two-round testing process.

Round 1

The first round of testing is a standardised language test which the candidate will take online. The test will determine whether the candidate meets the required level of proficiency in terms of their English language skills.

Only candidates who meet the required English proficiency level will be considered for Round 2 testing. The priority admissions criteria )outlined on the Before you Apply page) will be used to decide which and how many candidates will be tested in Round 2.

Round 2

The second round of testing will include both an oral test and a written test.

Candidates applying from the ‘local’ area (within France metropolitaine) will be invited into the CSI Lyon for both tests.

Candidates applying from outside the France metropolitaine area will be invited to take an oral test online, with an Anglophone Section teacher. Written tests will need to be done (under exam conditions) at the candidates school, and the test paper returned to the Anglophone Section by a deadline.

Key Dates & Deadlines

From 1 February 2024 - application forms will be sent on request from the CSI Lyon website here.
- Completed application dossiers are to be submitted directly to the CSI Lyon administration.
- Administrative Fee(s) are to be paid directly to the Anglophone Section at the time of submission.
- All applicants should return their completed dossier(s) and pay the administration fee(s) as early as possible.

Friday 29 March 2023 - Deadline for completed application dossiers to be returned to the CSI Lyon and for administrative fees to be paid to the Anglophone Section. If the administrative fee(s) is not paid by this date, the application dossier will not be accepted for consideration.

February to early April 2024 - Round 1 testing ongoing for all candidates. Candidates will be sent individual instructions of how to access the test as soon as their application dossier has been approved and the fee has been paid.

By mid-April 2024 - Candidates who have been accepted to undertake Round 2 testing will be informed.

Mid-April to mid-May 2024 - Round 2 / non-local* candidates: written tests to be completed at the candidates school and returned by 7 May 2024. Instructions will be sent to candidates by the Anglophone Section.

Late April to early May 2024 - Round 2 / non-local candidates: oral tests to be completed online with an Anglophone Section teacher. Instructions will be sent to candidates by the Anglophone Section.

7 May 2024 - Admissions Testing Day @ CSI Lyon. Round 2 written & oral tests for all local* candidates. Candidates will receive full details from the CSI Lyon administration.

31 May 2024 - Lists of successful candidates will be posted on the school website.
